Screenrec is a powerful alternative to Snagit for Windows (Lastest Windows 10, 8, 7 are supported), Linux and Mac. Why you have to pay for a tool so simple as screen capture is beyond our understanding, but Snagit only comes in a premium package. Snagit is available to purchase for $49.95.

Let’s get this out of the way now no, THERE IS NO FREE VERSION OF SNAGIT. Here’s the thing, though, there are so many other programs like Snagit that are free, and, dare we say, even better. Snagit is a program that works as a screen recorder with an image screen capturing tool, a snipping tool, and video/audio recording capabilities. What do you do? Do you just buy Snagit because the internet has been force-feeding it to you for years? Or do you roll up your sleeves and decide to look for a free alternative to Snagit? (I think I am going for Bandicam for timer recordings, but still plan to use SnagIt when i don't need a timer). So, you’re on your desktop and you find yourself needing to do a quick screengrab. I think has less timer recording options than Bandicam but still quite good. EaseUS RecExperts $118 (£88) for 2 computers. Bandicam - nice and easy to use, costs $59 (£45) to put on two computers (lappy + PC)Ģ. So, I would sugges the following EASY TO USE programs.ġ. I love SnagIt, but am a bit frustrated with them for not including this easy feature (esp as they had it before). There are other programs out there though that make it easy. And I am sure there are lots of people out there who havent posted a reply to you because it's too laborious to log in with your credentials before you can reply. Even the new Camtasia 2021 doesnt have it - shocking when you think the cost is several hundred pounds.Īnyway, I just basically want a simple easy on the eye solution. Don't know why they are so hesitant when something similar was available on previous old versions.

ability to say "repeat this (eg every day, every monday)" and so on. ability to say "record for x minutes every y minutes"ĥ. say how long to record for (from pressing the RECORD)Ĥ. I for one would love the ability to schedule or do a timed recording. I know this may seem obsessive, but, as I say, it worked fine in previous versions. Moreover, one might ask what good reason was there for removing it? So, to get SnagIt to do what I want it to at this point, I have to sit at the C waiting for the appropriate time to start the interval capture and then initiate it – BORING!!! Else my time stamps inelegantly say 10:03, 10:13, etc. I am not sure what past version of SnagIt still supported both Interval Capture and the ability to Schedule that process at a specific time, but I can’t image that, in a web application, it isn’t of use to others.

It is unfortunate for any software to, under the moniker of “improvement,” decrement features and apparently, that is what has happened. If there is a command-line ability to run SnagIt with a particular "Preset," then it would be a simple matter to use Windows Scheduler as an option to being the Interval capture task at the desired time, but I don't know if this is possible. As I say, I was able to do this with Snagit in the past, but now, it appears that I must choose between "Schedule" and "Interval" - I can't have both. This worked great for years with former versions of SnagIt, but what I want to do is to start the interval on a 10 min offset from the hour, 10AM, 10:10AM, etc. I have v13 now, and had hoped this ability would now be "re-available." What I am trying to do is to capture a window with the output of my solar system every 10 minutes, which is then delivered to a file, which is then incorporated into a web page that displays my PV system output for my Florida Keys home. With later versions of Snagit, I have lost this capability (just verified with Tech Support) - having to choose either a Schedule, or to set an Interval for capturing.

With a former version of Snagit - perhaps 10 or so - I was able to set a capture time interval (e.g., every 10 minutes) AND was also able to set the Schedule for when the process starts (for example at 10AM).
